[Action House 1]

[After having been dumped in Jade's workshop, and getting directions from the colonel himself, the occupants of house 1 might notice a stranger in New Feather clothes passing through. If no one notices or bothers to stop her, she will just walk out the front door in hopes of keeping as much of her dignity intact as possible.

After that B'Elanna goes to the clothing shop, finds her uniform, changes, then seats herself on a bench outside to look over her journal. Which she soon discovers is a communication device.]

I'm looking for tools. Where can I find some?

[Her stomach also decides to take this moment to speak.]

And I hope there's something decent to eat around here.

No, I'm still trying to find my way around.

[Though she had hoped she wouldn't need to settle in, and doing so seemed like admitting defeat.]

Look, you'll need a roof over you head. Find a place. Anything empty is fair game.

So you're saying I should just give up and accept this? How can you people sit around and do nothing for months, even years?!

[dangerouswind]

[Temari's voice is a little sharper.] We haven't done nothing. I've been here long enough to see what's been tried and what's failed.

[snapturtle]

[B'Elanna's voice is just as sharp.]

Well then. Please. Enlighten me.

[dangerouswind]

Not over an open journal.

[snapturtle]

Fine.

[That was fair enough.]

Is there somewhere we can meet?

[dangerouswind]

You've seen the fountain in the square?

[snapturtle]

I'm looking at it now.

[dangerouswind]

Then stay there for ten minutes. I'll be there.

[Action]

[snapturtle]

[Well... she doesn't exactly stay right there, but B'Elanna doesn't go far. She picks up a pastry at the nearby bakery before sitting down by the fountain with a small toolbox she found in the item shop.

It's there she waits, while finally giving in to her stomach's demand for food.

And it's really good for a non-replicated pastry.]

[Action]

[It's good stuff at the bakery. Temari's step isn't too fast -- she's in no huge hurry -- but she makes it there without keeping B'Elanna waiting too long. She raises a hand in greeting as she approaches.]

B'Elanna, yeah?

[About the time she finishes her pastry, B'Elanna notices her and stands.]

Yeah. And you are?

Temari. You wanted to talk about a few things.

[Action]

[snapturtle]

Yeah, you said something about knowing what hasn't worked.

[Action]

[dangerouswind]

Yeah. A bit. I've been here a few years. Come on; there's a place to sit over by the bridge. It's quiet.

[Years... She was left a little speechless at the thought and let Temari lead the way.]

[She leads the way across the bridge, and then down onto a smooth part of the bank. It's not much -- just a small expanse of grass -- but it's good enough. Quiet.] Have a seat.

[She does just that.]

[And seat herself she does. She also takes a moment to look around. Its peaceful and really quite pretty... for a prison.]

[Temari watches the water for a moment before speaking.] Do you have a specific question first?

I skimmed through the guide, and I saw mention of a barrier. Do you know anything about it?

I know enough to know that no one here has figured out how to get past it.

[Well that's not something she wants to hear but she's not willing to dismiss it as impossible yet.]

All right. How about how we got here?

Best guess? Shifts, they call them. They pull us in and... well, sometimes people leave. Never seems to be of their own will, though, seeing as we're always caught by surprise.
