[Action House 1]

[After having been dumped in Jade's workshop, and getting directions from the colonel himself, the occupants of house 1 might notice a stranger in New Feather clothes passing through. If no one notices or bothers to stop her, she will just walk out the front door in hopes of keeping as much of her dignity intact as possible.

After that B'Elanna goes to the clothing shop, finds her uniform, changes, then seats herself on a bench outside to look over her journal. Which she soon discovers is a communication device.]

I'm looking for tools. Where can I find some?

[Her stomach also decides to take this moment to speak.]

And I hope there's something decent to eat around here.

[Spock closes off the connection and stands at the front door, waiting for B'Elanna to show up.]

[Once she finishes what she was doing, she does show up. Walking towards the house in uniform with a small tool box she picked up at the item shop.]

[Spock takes in the uniform.... Was she in command? And he takes in the ridges. He would love to ask more questions about her race and hybrid nature, but unlike his Captain, he had tact.]

Greetings Miss B'Elanna... I must ask the significance of the uniform colour. In my time, gold was always command.

[She took him in as well. Spock certainly didn't look any less Vulcan than Vorik, but she supposed appearances could be deceiving. Not to mention humans and vulcans looked more similar than humans and klingons. His question surprised her a bit but she quickly recalled what she had learned back at the academy.]

Right... In the 24th century red is the color for command in Starfleet and gold is for engineering and security.

Fascinating... I wonder what the logic was behind changing such a traditional function.

[The Vulcan showed her into the house.] You mentioned that the Captain already offered you residence here? I hope you take him up on the offer, as we have two spare rooms available.

[Spock brings her into a work room in the back of the house where a form of lab was taking shape.] Please forgive the mess. Our previous house was bombed, taking my lab with it. I will have to start from scratch once more.

[She nods at his question.]

I don't see why not.

[And if she didn't, Temari would probably give her a hard time about it.]

Bombed?

[She asks this in surprise as she steps inside.]

[Spock looked exasperated... for a Vulcan.] Luceti is unstable, at best. Certain dangerous individuals can get brought in at any time... Our house just happened to be the target this particular time. Doctor McCoy's room in particular.

[THAT part he didn't understand though. No matter.]

[Well that's lovely.]

So not only is this a temporal anomaly, its a particularly volatile one.

[Spock couldn't help but feel relief at having someone who understood the situation.]
And one that has proven quite difficult to comprehend. Perhaps with your added presence, we can make some progress in that area.

[Spock pulls out a case filled with tiny tiny screwdrivers, pliers.... basically anything you would need to work on small pieces of machinery.]

Consider that you are from an era that is quite far advanced to my own, I am uncertain if my tricorder will be of any use to you.

[Her eyes widen slightly before she practically attacks the case. Sitting wherever is nearby she takes some of the tools, pulls off her combadge and pries it open to reveal the inner circuitry.]

It's better than nothing.

[Spock looked slightly amused as B'Elanna made herself quite at home with his tools. Almost jokingly he asked...]

Can I be of assistance?

[Instead of answering her question directly, she instead explains what she's doing as she starts prodding at the internal workings of the badge.]

Our combadges are designed to send out a distress signal if they're damaged. I'm trying to activate it.

[Obviously without damaging the little device.]

To what end, Miss B'Elanna? Do you believe that a distress signal can be sent through this anomaly?

[Don't mind if the Vulcan sounds bitter.]

Honestly... I don't know.

[But she's trying anyway.]

[Spock is silent for a moment... He doesn't want to dissuade her, and feeling useful in this type of situation was always better than doing nothing.]

Feel free to use whatever I have. It is not much... but we will build more.
[The Vulcan walks over to a four foot frame sitting in the corner... It's slightly singed and in bad shape. Spock frowns at it.]

[She then looks up as he walks over to a frame?]

A souvenir from the bombing?

[Spock tries not to sigh...] Indeed. It took me eight point two months to build this... and now I must start again. I was requested to build a force field, one that was portable and which the size could be adjusted.
I must say again, materials in this compound are incredibly limited... I am finding myself most....frustrated at the loss.

[Sitting back, B'Elanna folded her arms with an amused twist of her lips.]

I thought Vulcans didn't get frustrated.
