[After having been dumped in Jade's workshop, and getting directions from the colonel himself, the occupants of house 1 might notice a stranger in New Feather clothes passing through. If no one notices or bothers to stop her, she will just walk out the front door in hopes of keeping as much of her dignity intact as possible.

After that B'Elanna goes to the clothing shop, finds her uniform, changes, then seats herself on a bench outside to look over her journal. Which she soon discovers is a communication device.]

I'm looking for tools. Where can I find some?

[Her stomach also decides to take this moment to speak.]

And I hope there's something decent to eat around here.

Yes. Assuming your home galaxy is the same as the crew of the Enterprise. My galaxy has no Earth.

You have the technology to travel across your entire galaxy?

Easily, yes. A trip from the Core Worlds to the Outer Rim takes a week at most. Maybe only hours if the Hyperspace lane is right.

Hyperspace. Essentially a Hyperdrive opens a way into Hyperspace, a sort of sublayer of our reality. We slip through a sort of subspace at many thousands of times the speed of light.

I had thought your...Warp Drives operated in a similar fashion?

It does. But even at our fastest speeds it would take decades to get from one end of our galaxy to the other. That's actually part of my problem.

Oh? I didn't know Warp transit was so slow.

[Luke looks at something off-screen, and there's a beeping sound of sympathy.]

[Slow? The thought is almost insulting, but it's true compared to what Luke was describing.]

I came from a ship that was taken from one end of the galaxy to the other. At top speed it will take us 70 years to get home.

Well, unfortunately you're going to be heading back to that ship when you leave this world unless something drastic changes. If that happens, I'll gladly see about procuring a hyperdrive for you.

That's a big if, of course. That's assuming we find a way out that allows travel between realities, you know.

[He would find her waiting at the fountain with journal, combadge, and some tools she had borrowed from Spock. She quietly tinkered as she waited for Luke's arrival.]

[Luke meanders over with a wave.]

Hope you weren't waiting too long.

[Hearing his voice, she looks up.]

Not at all.

[She then holds up the partially dismantled combadge.]

As you can see its small, and it would be difficult to show any details over these... journals. Plus I didn't want to get anyone's hopes up.

But what are you trying to do with it?

I'm turning it into a distress beacon.

I know. It probably won't work. That barrier might block the signal and there's not much of a chance it will even reach anyone outside this anomaly.

It's not a bad project. Who knows, it's possible that if you get it outside the barrier, it might be able to reach someone. Just a chance, mind you.

Yes. Missions, drafts, kidnappings and the like all occur outside Luceti.
