4th Diagnostic - [Voice/Action]

[Voice]

[Today B'Elanna is at the Battle Dome, putting the finishing touches on several of the programs she's created. She's been working on this for some time, and now she's ready to make her announcement to the rest of the village.]

For those that don't know me, I'm B'Elanna Torres. In my world I'm an engineer on a starship, and we have rooms similar to those in the Battle Dome, called holodecks. Programming holoprograms also happens to be one of my specialties.

Since I came here to Luceti I've been programming several of my own simulations from back... "home." I'm making them available for anyone who wants to use them.

They include a handful of holonovels where you can pick a character to play and interact with other characters in a story. Like one of Harry's favorites, Beowulf.

[Yes, she made that one just for you, Harry. Oh the memories.]

There's even a couple for the kids: The Adventures of Flotter and Toby the Targ.

I've also created a Klingon battle simulation, a couple recreational destinations including a tropical resort and French bistro, and orbital skydiving. Also, I've programmed some games that Harry and I can teach you how to play like Parrises Squares, Hoverball, and Velocity.

And if anyone is curious to know what a starship looks like, I've recreated all the main decks of Voyager.

And that's about it. You can find them listed under Torres. Some of them might still need a little tweaking. If you have any problems, just let me know.

I'm also taking requests.

[Action]

[Not long after that, B'Elanna can be found in one of the Battle Dome rooms with her Voyager program running. She's sitting at her station in Main Engineering, looking at the warp core in distant thought.]

Had to be said anyway. So what year are you from then? I'm figuring at least a few centuries after me if there are starships about.

Before a lot of things were invented I imagine. Space travel is only an idea in my world.

[There's a moment where Ginia considers being sarcastic and gushing on the wonders of running water and electricity, but she has a feeling it would probably be taken seriously and there's probably a version of earth in 2018 without running water or electricity.]

Battle Dome and the teleporters are definitely new, very interesting. No internet, but I have enough cat pictures and funny gifs on my laptop to keep me entertained. Everything else, the stores, food, clothes, running water and electricity, pretty much aligns with where I'm from.

I'm going to wager this place is a few steps back for you.

Animated pictures, usually silly in nature.

What are things like in 2373?

[The comforts of the 24th century. It sounds pretty impressive, though Ginia wonders if those amenities are universal or only for a select few.

But first:]

[...Huh. Interesting. Would save on water, but Ginia couldn't say much beyond that.]

So replicators and transportation systems, are those things available to anyone or only found on ships? What are things like in the world? Or worlds I suppose.

[Having a replicator that could make anything made sense on a ship; less of a need to store supplies if they could be created. In the greater world, Ginia wonder what that meant for the economy and infrastructure.]

[No poverty on Earth, no money, everyone free to pursue their life's desires. It'd be hard to believe if they weren't living in a village with no money, all needs provided for. But Luceti has its catches and Ginia is still skeptical.]

Sounds like utopia. How did that come about? And this will sound like an obvious question, but what exactly is the Federation?

How many worlds and species? And when was the Federation formed?

[It's highly unlikely the timeline of her world is anywhere near the one in B'Elanna's world, but history lessons are always interesting. And maybe, just maybe, things will get better in her world. Nothing she'll ever see, but the possibility is always there.

And if the sci-fi-overall-fiction-fan in herself is honest, the idea of first contact is pretty cool too.]
